The Quran was revealed to Muhammad over a period of 23 years, starting from the month of Ramadan in 610 CE. The revelations were received through the angel Gabriel, who communicated the words of God to Muhammad. The Quran was compiled into a single book during the lifetime of Muhammad's successor, Caliph Uthman, in 652 CE.
