The story revolves around Hong-ryung (played by Jo In-seong), a loyal and trusted eunuch of King Injo of Joseon. As the king's health declines, Hong-ryung is tasked with finding a concubine to bear the king an heir. He chooses a beautiful young woman named Chun-bong (played by Song Ji-hyo), but their mission is complicated by the king's increasing instability and the involvement of other court officials.
