The film follows the journey of Robinson Crusoe (Pierce Brosnan), a young and ambitious Englishman who sets sail on a voyage to Brazil. After a series of unfortunate events, Crusoe finds himself shipwrecked on a remote island, where he must rely on his wit, resourcefulness, and determination to survive.
