The movie follows two American women, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson), who embark on a summer-long trip to Barcelona, Spain. Vicky, a straight-laced and uptight recent college graduate, is engaged to be married, while Cristina, a free-spirited and artistic young woman, is uncertain about her future. The two friends meet Jordi (Javier Bardem), a charismatic and passionate artist, who sweeps them off their feet and introduces them to the city's vibrant culture.
